HOW DOES COMPLEX SCAR SERUM WORK? Complex
Scar Serum supports the skin’s natural repair process by targeting multiple stages of scar maturation at once. It helps strengthen the skin barrier, improve hydration, support collagen organisation, and soften uneven texture over time. Rather than relying on a single active, the formula works holistically to improve the look and feel of scars as they heal and evolve.
WHAT ACTIVE INGREDIENTS ARE IN COMPLEX SCAR SERUM? Complex Scar Serum is powered by a carefully curated blend of clinically studied and naturally derived actives, including:
+ Complex Ceramide CLR™ to help reinforce the skin barrier and support long-term resilience
+ NaturePep®, a bioactive peptide complex that supports skin regeneration
+ Gotu Kola Extract to support collagen structure and skin recovery
+ Bakuchiol, a plant-derived alternative to retinol, to help improve texture and tone
+ Acai Stem Cell Extract (Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract) to support skin renewal
+ Sodium Hyaluronate to deeply hydrate and plump the skin
+ Phytosan K® , a plant-derived complex that helps regulate skin balance and supports the skin’s natural defence mechanisms
+ Kakadu Plum Seed Oil, anti-inflammatory activity by modulating pro-inflammatory cytokines, supporting a calmer healing environment and more controlled scar formation.
+ Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a stable vitamin C derivative that supports collagen synthesis, helps improve skin tone, and provides antioxidant protection during scar recovery.
+ Blackberry Extract, rich in polyphenols and antioxidants that help protect healing skin from oxidative stress while supporting overall skin resilience.
+ Perfeline®-Essence, plays an important role in skin homeostasis and wound healing as well as skin barrier protection. Tested on pregnant women.
+ Bodyflux Olive Ceramide, a bio-identical ceramide that reinforces the skin barrier, improves lipid balance, and supports hydration essential for scar recovery.
Each component is selected for a specific role, working together to support scar improvement from multiple angles.
CAN I USE COMPLEX SCAR SERUM ON ANY SCAR? Yes. Complex Scar Serum is designed to support a wide range of scars, including surgery, injuries, acne, and stretch marks. It has been clinically proven to improve texture, colour, and overall appearance as the skin heals and matures. For burns, keloids, or medically complex scars, check with your clinician to ensure this type of topical treatment is appropriate for your needs.
WHEN CAN I START USING COMPLEX SCAR SERUM AFTER A C-SECTION? You can typically begin using Complex Scar Serum once your incision is fully closed and your healthcare provider confirms the skin has healed enough for topical products. For most women, this is usually around6-8 weeks postpartum, but always check with your clinician first.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE COMPLEX SCAR SERUM? For best results, apply Complex Scar Serum twice daily to clean, dry skin. Our proprietary blend contains a potent concentration of active components, so if your skin feels sensitive at any point, you can reduce application to once per day. If irritation persists, discontinue use and consult your clinician.
SHOULD I MASSAGE MY SCAR WHILE USING THIS SERUM? Yes. Gentle scar massage can help with mobility, sensitivity, and tissue healing. Apply the serum first, then begin with slow, delicate circular movements, gradually increasing pressure only if your provider confirms it’s appropriate for your stage of recovery.
CAN I USE THIS ON RAISED, HYPERTROPHIC, OR KELOID SCARS? The Complex Scar Serum is suitable for flat and hypertrophic scars. Keloid scars may require additional medical treatment, but the serum may still help soften, reduce redness and may reduce discomfort. Consult your clinician if your scar appears significantly raised or continues to grow.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RAISED, HYPERTROPHIC, AND KELOID SCARS? Raised scars, hypertrophic scars, and keloid scars are all types of thickened scar tissue, but they behave differently as they heal. Raised scars are slightly elevated above the skin’s surface and are a normal part of early healing. Hypertrophic scars stay within the boundaries of the original incision or wound but appear thicker, firmer, and sometimes red or itchy. Keloid scars, however, grow beyond the original injury and can continue to thicken over time. They are more common in people with a genetic tendency toward keloids and may require clinical treatment in addition to at-home scar care.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMPLEX SCAR SERUM AND SYNTHETIC SCAR SERUMS? Many scar serums on the market rely heavily on synthetic actives or single-ingredient solutions. Complex Scar Serum takes a more considered approach, combining naturally derived, clinically supported actives with skin-identical components to support healing without overwhelming sensitive or compromised skin.
IS COMPLEX SCAR SERUM SAFE TO USE WHILE BREASTFEEDING? Yes. The formula is designed for pregnancy and breastfeeding, using gentle, non-irritating components with no endocrine-disrupting ingredients. It’s well suited to postpartum use. As always, avoid applying the product to open wounds or anywhere your baby may ingest.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS FROM COMPLEX SCAR SERUM? Scar improvement happens gradually, but many people start to notice early changes in around 4 weeks. More significant improvements in texture, colour, and overall appearance are typically seen from 8 weeks onward, with optimal results continuing to build over 12 weeks and beyond when used consistently.
HOW LONG SHOULD I USE COMPLEX SCAR SERUM FOR?
It is clinically recommended to us for at least 8–12 weeks, with many people choosing to continue for 3–6 months depending on their scar’s age and appearance.
CAN THE COMPLEX SCAR SERUM HELP WITH OLD SCARS? Yes. While fresh scars respond fastest, older scars MAY still improve. Our serum has been clinically shown to support texture, colour, and smoothness in scars that are months, or even years, old with consistent use.
WILL COMPLEX SCAR SERUM LIGHTEN PIGMENTATION OR REDNESS? Yes. The serum has been clinically proven to support a more uniform tone by helping calm redness, fade pigmentation, and strengthen the skin barrier as scars mature.
CAN I USE COMPLEX SCAR SERUM IN HUMID CLIMATES OR DURING EXERCISE? Yes. Complex Scar Serum is formulated without pore-clogging ingredients and absorbs quickly, making it suitable for use in warm or humid conditions and during light exercise. In hotter climates, skin can be more prone to irritation, so try to keep the area out of direct sunlight. If any sensitivity occurs, reduce application to once per day or once every second day. If irritation persists, discontinue use and consult your clinician.
CAN IT HELP WITH C-SECTION “SHELF” OR OVER HANG? While no topical product can remove the shelf entirely, consistent scar care including massage can improve texture, soften tightness, and support tissue recovery, which may help reduce its appearance over time. We recommend consulting your physician or women’s health physiotherapist for personalised guidance.
IS IT NORMAL FOR MY SCAR TO ITCH OR FEEL NUMB?
Yes. Itching and numbness are common as nerves regenerate. Complex Scar Serum can help soothe tightness and dryness, which may reduce itch. See your provider if itching becomes severe.
WHAT ARE SIGNS MY SCAR ISN’T HEALING NORMALLY? Seek medical attention if you notice increasing redness, warmth, pus,
spreading streaks, or persistent pain, as these can be signs of infection. Discontinue any use of topical products.
CAN I SWIM WHILE USING COMPLEX SCAR SERUM? Yes, but apply after swimming or wait at least 30min before swimming if you have applied the serum Chlorine and salt water can irritate healing skin, so rinse and reapply once dry.
CAN I USE SUNSCREEN OVER COMPLEX SCAR SERUM? Yes. Sunscreen is essential for scar management. Apply the serum first, allow it to absorb, then layer SPF 30+ on top to prevent darkening and discolouration.
WHAT IF MY SKIN BECOMES IRRITATED? Stop using
temporarily and allow the area to settle. Then try reducing the frequency to every second day. Mild redness can occur as scars remodel, but persistent irritation should be checked by a clinician.
CAN COMPLEX SCAR SERUM BE USED ON SCARS FROM SURGERY, INJURIES, BURNS, OR STRETCH MARKS? Yes. Complex Scar Serum is designed to support a wide range of scars, including those from surgery, C sections, injuries, postpartum changes, and stretch marks. Its naturally derived, multi-active formula offers a thoughtful alternative to more synthetic scar treatments, supporting texture, tone, and skin resilience as scars mature. For burns or medically complex scars, we recommend checking with your healthcare
provider before use.
CAN COMPLEX SCAR SERUM BE USED ON CHILDREN? Complex Scar Serum is formulated with gentle, naturally derived components and without harsh or aggressive actives. However, children’s skin can be particularly delicate, so we recommend consulting a healthcare provider before use to ensure it’s appropriate for the child’s age and skin type.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCAR SERUMS & SILICONE STRIPS? Silicone scar strips are considered the gold standard in early scar care providing a second protective layer for your skin with an optimal healing environment. They create gentle occlusion, maintain optimal hydration, and provide long wear, making them highly effective during the first stages of healing. Complex Scar Serum offers a lightweight, cosmetically elegant alternative that supports texture, colour, and overall skin recovery in a way that complements silicone therapy. Many people use silicone strips during the initial months, then transition to the serum as their scar matures for continued improvement.
WHEN SHOULD I USE SILICONE SCAR STRIPS AND WHEN SHOULD I START THE SERUM ON MY C-SECTION? For the best results, use silicone scar strips during the first three to four months postpartum, when your scar is in its most active healing phase. Once you complete this initial period, you can transition to using Complex Scar Serum to continue supporting texture, colour, and overall skin recovery as the scar matures.
CAN I USE COMPLEX SCAR SERUM WITH MY SILICONE STRIPS? No. Complex Scar Serum should not be used underneath silicone strips. Silicone needs direct contact with clean, dry skin to adhere properly and deliver the full therapeutic effect. Using a serum underneath can interfere with adhesion and reduce results.
